Son has to replace the idler pulley on his status. The crankshaft pulley will not come off. It is held on by a bolt that came out with no trouble. He is using a 3 jaw puller s recommended. He has heated the hub with a propae torch, doused it with cold water, PB blaster, and now acetone/tranny fluid mix. He has been out of state the last several days and will try it again. I realized today that I did not see a keyway on the end of the shaft. Mayvbe a woodruff key. Maybe a tapered shaft.
Any words of wisdom?

You need a puller like the one BigDog made for pulling a Cub damper pulley. He's using a bottle jack and you can also use a hydraulic ram. Hal

there is a special 3 jaw puller to get that off. otc sells them. your 3 jaw may work, try running the bolt back in, leaving it out maybe a quarter inch or so, and try the puller. back the bolt out as necessary if it comes loose. you may need to smack the bolt on the puller to get it to break loose.
poke here.

Thanks for the help. It turned out the design is such that the pulley is counter bored and he was pushing and pulling on the pulley at the same time. it looked like the end of the crank where the bolt head had marked the pulley and we though we were pushing on the crank.
