I bought this JD 401 industrial about 7 years ago, for 500.00 The tractor had been setting for a few years with water in the oil. A lot of the internal parts had to be replaced. Even the cam had to be replaced from rust. I installed a piston kit, and had to buy a rear mail cap, as the rear main bearing spun, and have the motor line honed. I attched a flail mower. It has operated for a few years now without any trouble, except for the time I ran it on gas for a few hours, and had to have the injuction pump rebuilt. Going to replace a front tire today, and do some mowing. I really like this tractor, it has all the power needeen to operate my mower. Stan

He said he ran it on gas, not out of gas..... Must have mixed up the fuel cans.

What model number would that be if it were a green tractor? Looks alot like my 2030 from the 1970s.

Donovan. You got it right. I did mix uo the cans. The tractor had about 4 gal or so of diesel, I added gas to that. I wondered why it was running a little hotter than normal. My next trick will be putting water in the fuel tank, as the fuel cap is to the front. Stan

Neighbor had one on his dairy- seemed pretty much bulletproof, and he wasn't easy on equipment. I wasn't used to ROPS with a canopy, and bumped my head a lot when I ran it.
