IH baler repair question

How do you remove the feeder arguer on an IH 47 baler? On the last couple of bales yesterday the feeder arguer "came loose" and is now sliding back and forth on the shaft. It was dark so I called it a night and finished with the big round baler (half bale sitting out there with all the squares).

It's probably similar to how arguers come apart on the John Deere balers.

I don't think the operator manual covers this but I didn't have time to check.

I divorced my arguer. Sounds like a bearing is shot or end plate came loose on the auger. The book should have something in it.

The auger is held on by it's drive pulley. It sounds like the pin that holds it in place is not doing it's job. Fairly easy fix. Just take the shield off of the belt drive & look for the pin, or lack there of, behind the pulley on the auger. Replace if necessary. Don't take the two pulley sheaves apart, unless you like chasing washers around or need to change the speed. The pulley was designed to slide off of the shaft, complete. If you need to pull the auger, you'll also have to knock the pin out of the drive pinion at the end of the shaft located by the knotter. The whole tubular arm pulls right out the side. Take the wind guard off of the pickup & roll or lift the auger out. It's been a while since I had to do it, but I'm pretty sure that's how it goes. I don't know if they have a reprint the service manual on the site, here or not. If not, CaseIH has a downloadable version on their site. Look for GSS-1348.

Thanks!!!!

I was going at it from the wrong end!

That will help a lot with the replacement (have a 46 parts baler with a good auger) that appears to be the exact same.
