STRANGE eBay Problem?

I have gone around the world to find a solution as to why I can't LOG OUT of eBay. When I asked the question on eBay it says "log out is in the upper left corner of every page".
Well it USED TO BE and it reappears OCCASIONALLY!
The only way I can log out is to clear all history with CC Cleaner.
Makes me so mad and suspisous I think I will just not logn in again!
I have voiced this problem with eBay and other forums--No Answer!
Apparently no one else has ever had this problem and that gives me concern!
I have Security Essential Protection and Pop-up blocker and since "Daily Deals" used to be beside Log-Out box. Could that be my problem?

Do you mean, that if you point at the drop-down arrow behind your name on ebay (at upper left)... the log-out menu just won't show up?

It is hidden because they don't WANT people to log-out. They want you to keep bidding.

Strange also that I can be logged in to "My eBay" and check mail and purchase history but CAN"T PLACE A BID??????? unless I log-in under that item.
With all the problems one can encounter over the net---I think my best bet is to just stop buying on eBay.
I am FED-UP!!!!

(quoted from post at 17:40:59 05/25/13) Could be your computer i have an older one which does not display pages correctly.
How could I check that? I have a HP about two years.
I have Super-anti-spyware and malware-bytes along with Security-Essentials and I run them regularly.

That is strange. I have the opposite problem. I can't stay logged into ebay. I have to sign in for every little thing I do. I kinda think you must have a virus keeping you logged in so someone else can use your account.

That's what concerns me!!! I run both virus protection weekly and the Microsoft Security Essentials is set to run every day.
With all three---They seldom find anything, but they could be missing something. I have NO popups!
I check my PayPal account regularly, along with my CC and have found no suspicious activity.

Sweet Feet is Right! Just point at the drop down menu next to the HI! greeting and select log out!
And, yes you have to be logged in to bid.

Yes you have to be logged in to bid and you also have to log in to access your eBay.
There is no separate log-in.

Alot of websites are pushing you hard to update to the newest Internet Explorer (version 8.0 I think) and its getting to the point they are not supporting the older versions. One example is youtube, it wont let you comment and even reading the comments dont work well because ofthe layout, again youtube is saying to upgrade to the latest Internet Explorer.

I dont know if ebay is doing any of this but it may be worth your time to check out your browser to see if it can be upgraded. You can always go back, I did with IE because I didnt like the new one but its getting obvious that I will have to before too long. Maybe I will get lucky and another new one will come out eliminating the stuff I didnt like and I can do a double jump, I did that years ago.

(quoted from post at 19:37:28 05/25/13) Just to be clear: Is there a Hi and your name in the upper left of the screen on any eBay page?
NO---Read my original Post.
It was there for years, along with Daily Deals and it occasionally reappears--maybe once in ten Log-ins. Where it was is blank, and I have even clicked on it.
For a while, I could do an eBay search under consumer support and it would appear, as the suggestion was displayed.
Doesn't now.
Rebooting computer still has me logged in, clearing all cookies and history logs me out.
Getting tired of having to reset all passwords along with other issues.
I have been buying on eBay for years and have had this problem for months.

I would bet that your pop up blocker is stopping the drop down menu from working correctly. Go into your pop up blocker setting and allowing Ebay to have pop ups while on that site. Then see if things work like they should.

I think you are not "logged in" That's why there is
no log-out button. What you have is cookies
remembering it's you when you visit. It's really
meaningless. I wouldn't worry about it.

Its a change in the internet browser's causing havoc with all kinds of web pages...

skip msie 9 and load either 8 or 10.. version 9 will break just about everything due to botch up security settings.

Let me start over: "The only way I can log out is to clear all history with CC Cleaner."

Log out has no relationship at all with history. so whatever is happening must be related to the browser.

Log out is a function of the website, not your computer, normally.

When you go to ebay.com, can you log in normally?

I use Firefox and when I go to ebay, I get a 'Hi Ken' followed by a 'sign in' link.

I just hate IE and have been a Firefox user for years.

I have to log in by submitting a bid--ask a question ---or go to my eBay. There is no Hi------at the top of page.
Just the other day, I planned to spike an item so I went to My eBay and checked on my information and history. I then went to bid on the item and with 5 seconds to go, was told I must be logged in.
Why would I have to log in to bid if I am already logged to my eBay???

I wonder if to be on the safe side, you might should close your ebay account and open another one under a different user name. It would be nice if there was customer service at ebay that could advise you on what you should do.

I have considered that, but with a 100% feedback in over 10 years, that's to be considered?
I buy a lot of items of which some specify you have at least a 20 item purchase history.
I recently changed my password in relation to this problem with no different results.
From all the responses, I think it is my problem rather then eBay and opening a new account would give the same problem.

I suggest loading Firefox and giving it a trial run. I think you'll like it.

Also adblockplus and xmarks are great firefox addons.

if you can post a screen shot of the problem page(s), I'll try to get some help from some of the eBay forums I frequent.
