Ford Excursion @$1%*^@## !!!!!!

Drove my wifes Excursion to the hospital this morning to pickup some items we left when we brought the baby home on monday. Went to leave....and truck wouldnt start. Sounded like the solenoid was out, bendix wouldnt engauge. Truck has about 160,000 on it....figured Ok, I'll beat on the starter, get it home and change it. Climbed underneath....went to beat on the starter....AND IT MOVED! The mounting bolts had came loose! Towed it home, now to figure out how many bolts I am missing, and whether or not to go ahead and change the starter. GGGGGRRRRRRR. Did I mention it was raining cats, dogs, and pitchforks????? GGGGGGGRRRRRRRR.

I'm amazed they came loose. We changed the motor in the wifes Explorer Sport Trac a few months ago. Had to take the torch to almost every bolt in that thing and melt the loctite loose. Amazing we didn't set fire to the whole darned thing.

Starters will allways go out when your away from home in a parking lot and it's pouring down rain or snow! It never fails! Bandit

somebody must have had it off before, cause those bolts are usually corroded . they are a pain to get to the top 2 so maybe thats why loose, or maybe were never put back in

There is one bolt that is hard to get loose or tight on that starter, some people leave it and the starter gets loose. Last time I changed mine it was in a parking lot in blinding snowstorm 12" of snow down. They never fail on a sunny summer day it seems.

Starter is back in, bolted tight. lol. There are only 2 bolts in that starter. One in the top, one in the bottom. Neither are hard to access. Some days!

I'm always cussin' my '00 Expedition for some electrical problem or another. Right now I either have a bad starter or bad selenoid on it. Will have to sit for now until I get some other things done.
