Question About Good year long bar short bar tires?

I bought a set of 15.5x38 Good year long bar short bar tires last night... I didn't really need them and I don't know if I like the tread pattern to put on my GW... Plus I think I need a taller tire for that tractor... Anyway I only paid 50 bucks for a matched set. They were a farmers duels and he bought new duels for his tractor they have about 50% tread. Are these good tires or not? Figured it was too cheap given the cost of new tires not to buy them..

got a set of radials on my 930 case like that ,, need more weight ,, or fluid to keep from slipping in hard pull,.. but they are wearing good ,, been on there for 20 years and still look real good

If you run them on pavement much the short bar will wear off and then they will ride rough. I had a few sets years ago and they did not last long on tractors that are used much. They also are terrible in mud. Look at the width of the tread. The side walls are 2-3 inch wider than the tread. So the mud just stick in the tread and your stuck. If I get them on a tractor I am going to keep I take them off and put Firestone 23 degree tires on them. They are a much better tire.

For $50 for a parade tractor they would be a good deal. If you are going to use it in tractor pulls you will hate them.

I agree with the firestones that what I have on my puller and all our bigger tractors but I just figured for 50 bucks they would be an ok tire to ride around on or take hay with.. Whatever tractor gets them won"t be doing much work...

have a set on a 630 J/D, Never liked them from
the start... Won"t clean, ride rough & they
sound wierd in 6th gear....

The ony ones worse were the 710 that you could stick your finger thru the sidewall. Get Firestone or Michelin for the best!

Never had those BUT now your Firestones 23* tires, they would be gone as soon as I could find something different. After the way those Firestons were nothing but junk and the way Firestone treated us I will never have a new Firestone tire ever. Any other make but Firestone. And I told the guys at the tire proving ground that.
