OT Ford numbers

What do the ford numbers tell you about the specific tractor? For instance my grandpa has a 1996 model 5030 what exactly do these numbers mean?

The numbers were like this, 2000 was 30hp, 3000, or 3600
and 3910were 40hp, the 4600/4610/ 4630were 55 hp, the
5600/5610 were 60hp, the 6610 was 70hp and the 7600/7700
and 7710 were 82hp, your 5030 is proably in the 60 hp
range.

When Ford went to blue paint on the tractors they changed the model system to thousand series numbering so they eventually had 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9000...
As new model deviations came along the series that replaced them became known as the 600/700 series so the model numbers had that added to make 1600, 2600, 7600/7700, etc. As time wore on they became the 10 series and later the 30/40 series. What you have is a 30 series that denotes it being a 3 cylinder chassis tractor. Normally the 4630 would have been the largest in the series... but in this case a 5610's 256 cid engine was fitted into the 3 cylinder chassis so the tractor became the '5030'...

Another aspect is that the first pair are an indication of power, bigger number, more power. The second pair as Rod says indicate the series which gives you a good idea of the age.
