Who makes who's batteries again?

I'm lost on who the real manufacturers are, can you tell me again. I quit on Deka's the other year when they jumped their prices, or at least the auto parts dealer in town did. I decided to try the AC Delco dealer and now I use AC Delco's for everything. They seem to last good and are cheaper than Deka's. Don't tell me they're made at the same factory! If so, are there several different grades? Must be for all the different choices and prices for warranties with the same battery (I think). Still use deka's for mower batteries though.

I used to pick up batteries at a warehouse in Dallas. Saw them one day putting stickers for one brand on them. Then off of the same shelf they were putting stickers from another brand. Kinda makes you wonder who makes what.

We have an Exide distributor here in town. You can go there and buy their seconds for usually $35. A second is one that has sat on the shelf at a retail place for to long and comes back to them. They take the labels off and put them under a load and recharge it. Sometimes you can get a good one that last forever it seems and the next one will only make the 6 month warranty they give. You see all sorts of different brands except the JD Strong Box ones. The guy there claims Exide makes them for JD but to their specks. Lately I have been going to a auto salvage yard where I can get them for $20 or if you go on Tues. they are $17. I picked up a Napa one for the $17 that just was 3 months old.

I worked with a man one time that his main job was at Southwestern Battery Supply in Garland, TX. He said they made all brands of batteries there and all were basicly alike with the exception of more stringent quality controls for one brand over another.

don't forget that just because they're made by one company doesn't mean they are the same battery. Ford makes Focus's and Lincolns. Not the same car.

SAME WITH OILs. THey're not all created equal even if by the same company.

have always had good luck with Dekas and the Napa's from about 5-10 years ago. Poor luck with Sears and just started using ACDelco (about $30 less than others with better warranty, even is soso batteries they'll still outlast the cars their in.
