Nope they ain't kidding I'd bet a hundred on it.
There has been a rash of people like that all over the country. Most often in big city areas. They were interviewed because they were part of an animal rights protest. Many have made statements like that "well if you have to eat meat why don't you buy it so no animals are injured".
Kinda liked the response of a kid my son was in the Navy with. There was a PETA protest outside a KFC store in Seattle WA. This kid when in, got a bucket of legs and went outside and walked around offering the protesters a snack.

Heard a lady one time say we should shut down all drilling. If people want gas. They can just go to the gas station.
This one happend to me. Man calls up says the power is out and it is still dark in the building. I go out find the generator turned off. I turn it back on building lights up. I go inside and tell the guy. It was dark because someone turned off the generator.
He tells me he turned it off because it was noisy.Can't you give me power without the noise.I just about slapped him.

This sounds like a reply to another thread about idiots coming out of school. Bet I could guess which Govt. program got that idiot through the system.
Technically they're right about no animals being "injured" I guess. Kinda like the statistics from WWI. When the army started using helmets,head injuries increased by 900%. Without the helmets,they would have been fatalities. When cattle are slaughtered,no injured animals have to be tracked down and finished off. They're dead,RIGHT NOW.

I believe it was dropped on it's head just after it was born. People like that is probably why we aren't friends the aliens. They are looking for planets with intelligent life on them. Sort of leaves this one out.
Had a similar thing happen to me when we were debating wood boiler laws in the local newspapers on line comment section. Had a person actually say, "You people don't need to burn wood at all! Can't you learn to turn up the thermostat?!" or words to that effect.
