Not quite off topic because I use my eyes when drivin' my 8N.

Just had surgery in my left eye because of cataract. Guess the new way is to cut out the old lens and put in a new one made out of plastic.

5 hours later and I can see better than I have in my life. They did both eyes and no more glasses or contacts.

Downside is that I need readers for close up. Takes some gettin' used to.

Supposed to be good for life.

My wife did both of hers a couple of years ago.

We used to have "who can read the highway sign first" contests- Generally, she was still saying "what sign" when I could read it. But no more- 20/20 now. No more contacts. Yes, she has to have readers (had to before, also), but she's happy to make that concession to be able to SEE!
 
Wife had it a couple years back she has excellent vision now, but is kinda dangerous driving at night because of starburst around lights. I think she would have the surgery again though if she had to do it over again. She was stuck with contacts or glasses her whole life. Interesting side note,she wore colored contacts to cover up that she has two different colored eyes. She's the only one I have ever met like that. Myself I've thought about the surgery but I wear safety glasses all the time anyway so I'd still be stuck with glasses on.
 
Good for you. Our eyesight is prescious for sure. Son had it done by laser a couple of monthes ago and he"s happy with it. He said he could smell the burning flesh. Jim
 
My wife had lasik eye surgery a year ago this month. She had worn glasses since she was seven, almost to the point of not being able to see her hand in front of her face without glasses or contacts. She has 20/20 vision now, for that I am grateful, it is something I take for granted. I do not miss the days of helping search for her glasses or contacts :wink:
 
If she'd had it done earlier she might not have married you! LOL

I had the lasix about 10 years ago; wish I'd done it sooner.
 
I'm involved in an IOL company, Imperial Medical Technology in Georga. We have the best IOL multi focal lenses on the market right now, but they are not yet available in the US due to the severe costs of getting yhrm certified. Within the next six mos. they should be available in Canada. I went to Italy last July and had both mine done there. Unbelieveable! I needed glasses since HS and at 70 yrs old, I don't need any corrections for distance or close up...none at all.
 
My dad had the lens replacement surgery for cataracts 2 1/2 years ago. It was scary to ride anywhere with him, knew things were getting bad when I got on the backhoe to trench in some field tile and he didn't say anything or throw me off.

He was legally blind in the right eye, could only see shadows to about 6 feet. That eye burned for several weeks afterward. Probably hadn't seen much in it in a few years.
 
Some people around with heterochromia.A famous few.
David Bowie, Max Scherzer, Michael Flatley, Kate Bosworth, Tim McIlrath, Mila Kunis, Dan Aykroyd, Kiefer Sutherland, Jane Seymour and Alice Eve who is totally gorgeous.
Really strange different coloured eyes belong to Chimera.More of them around than most people realize.
 
I got one in February and the other one done in November. Have worn glaasses all the time since we got married 36 years ago. Strange to be able to drive without glasses. I had to get a reglar pair of sunglasses. Between the surgeries, I used my prescription sunglasses. I just closed the new eye for a couple seconds and the other (dominant eye took over) and I got along fine. My eye doctor was amazed that I could do that.
Now it is possible to get one eye fixed for close and the other for distance. I didn't know that until after the first operation. I would have liked to have that done, but I would have wanted to have the dominant eye for distance and then it was too late. You can get bifocal contacts that will do that for you, having different prescriptions for each eye.
