Yesterday son changed the Oxygen sensor on the 92 ford 4X4.it was the original Motorcraft. Now we use this truck for many chores ,like hauling around his Lawn Tractor for mowing jobs. I remember someone saying something like a pricey COLD liquid wrench that really works. Would be interested in a product like that .Something that breaks Rusted Nut, Bolts ect loose without having to hire KING KONG to bust em loose. Son got the old one out, new one put in . Should increase milage and remove the light from the dash. Would appreciate the name of the product. I know, I shouda wrote it down ,but a 77 year old memory doesnt function all that great LOL. LOU

O2 sensors should be put in with never seize Lou. The kind that transfers electrical current.

I use JB 80. If you lay it on and let it set for 24 hours sems to work pretty well.

Hang in there Lou - I have a can in my car, given to me by my mechanic - last time I visited him. Just have to get out to the car and find it. By the way, he says to follow the instructions on the can to the letter - distance away, soak time, etc.

Thanks Rick. Son did use Anti sieze . I thought the factory did that in the initial instlation.
Been a LONGGGGGGGGGGGG time between interval changes. Noticed the emission light and poorer gas milage. Hope this does the trick LOU.

Item he gave me is called "LOCTITE FREEZE & RELEASE." Says it really works, but follow directions on can - spray 5 to 10 seconds at a distance of 4 to 6 inches... allow 1 to 2 minutes reaction time. Repeat if necessary.

He also gave me a can of "Zep 45NC penetrating lubricant." Says this works real well too - contains PTFE.

Don"t know how well either works, as he just gave me the cans Thursday. Not tried either yet.

Lou, I think I"m the one that you are talking about, but the pricy stuff that I have been using for the last couple of years and I swear by it is the MOPAR Rust Penetrant, you can pick it up at any MOPAR dealer parts department. It comes in a blue and white spray can and runs about 8 bucks. It is well worth the price.

I have used the locktite freeze stuff and I thought it worked very well. I used it last fall on some 3/4 nuts and it worked. I am told it works excellant on small screws and such.

Thanks RayP,
We've tried about everything else out there,so we'll give this a try.
I really appreciate all the replies, and will keep a list of all the other ones listed,so if one doesn't cut it we'll try another one.
Thanks again to all, just trying to find something better to keep from pulling our guts out on wrenches, when you can't get a impact on it to loosen salt rusted parts.

Thanks for the reply LeonardWD45, We'll see if we can find your product as well, we've tried everything from pb blaster, kroil, liquid wrench, and countless others, some work better than others, but always looking for a better mousetrap.lol
Thanks again,LOU

Bryan iniowa,
yep tested, and checked today, light went off. Without checking your just chasing your tail.
Thanks,LOU

I don't think that replacing the O2 sensor will improve your mileage as it cuts the throttle back when you step on it. Costing you power to get started or go up hills.
Mine has been out for several years and my mileage has increase slightly but the power has really increased a lot. It nice to step on the gas when passing or climbing a steep hill and not have the bottom fall out of your power curve.

A few days ago there was a post about a product called Next Demension Super Rust Breaker. It had something in it that was suppose to first freeze the rusty nut/ bolt so its penatrating oil could do a better job.

Walt, don't know what you are driving but on those older Fords the O2 sensor goes bad and the couputer defaults to cold run......feeding extra gas to give it a rich misture. So year on a Ford the O2 sensor is critical to good mileage. SIL's old Forn whent from 9 to 13 MPG just by replacing the O2sensr.
