OT update on Homeowners Insurance Cancelled

American Family Insurance is trying to take back its decision to cancel the troopers policy-saying they did not know about the insurance the county had on the dog.

Around here that"s known as "hoof in mouth disease."

Unfortunately once it"s said, nothing can cover up the stupidity.

Step 1: Story of corporate stupidity goes viral
Step 2: Company trips all over itself backpedaling trying to save face

Classic.

Now if you could only get about 50 or 60 thousand
folks to drop American Family Insurance they might get
off their half moons and fire the genius that made the
decision to drop the cop in the first place. If you
got 100 folks in your community to drop AM Fam the
agent would probably have to take on a different
company. Another post on here tonight talks about frivolous lawsuits, man it seems this is one that
wouldn't be frivolous, where are the underemployed
lawyers when you really need them?

I dropped them a long time ago, car insurance went up 15.00 every six months for a year & a half. The next company stayed the same for two years.

Insurance companies make similar [stupid] cancellation decisions every day...this one just happened to get some press.

That whole thing does not suprise me about american family. I was mowing lawn one day and a guy pulled in my driveway and claimed I threw a stone and damaged his suburban. He then told me that I would have to pay. I told him to call the county cops, they came and thuoght it was a joke no report was made out. Now I get letters from AF telling me they are going to take my drivers licence away if I don' pay. My agent from Rural Mutual drafted me a letter I sent to AF stating I will not pay due to no report and no hard facts. Now waiting to see what they say. Jim

I guess I must be the lucky one. I've had American Family for fifty years and couldn't have had better service. BUT I will make one statement "Your insurance company is no good if you don't have a good agent." I got caught in a big storm north of Topeka, Kansas last summer - $6000 damage to my 2006 Lucerne. Took it to my agent and before I left his office everything was scheduled to be fixed. And I'll add that was a lot better then beng canceled out like State farm did-with no reason-no claims or anything.
