O/T what kind/type of truck cover?

My 2002 Silvarado isn't used too much these days. With winter coming on I'm thinking of putting in in the barn with the tractors, which is an hour + one way.
The other option is maybe a car cover. Never bought one before, any suggestions/recommendations ?

thanks, snc

If the wind can get to that cover, it is likely to wear spots of paint off before spring.

Some people put covers over their vehicles here when they went back home for the summer. They tied them down as best they could, but when they came back in the fall the tarp/cover had worn through the paint in places from the wind moving the cover. Some covers ripped open from the wind too.

Put it in the barn.

I saw what a tarp would do to a new 1957 pontiac in just two weeks in the west Texas wind, the guy sure wasn't happy when he removed that tarp.

I have one on my little Saab Sonett special made to fit. I keep
the car inside so that the wind won't bl it around. Works very
good for dirt dust and other things but like I said keep it under
cover also.

You're probably better off just cleaning it and giving it a good waxing and just park it. Easier to start and move it around now and then also....

if you just want to just 'freeze it in time' for the winter, the best thing is to put it in the barn, put a battery maintainer on the battery to keep it charged, todays vehicles are never really "off" and without the maintainer it will drain the battery , put stabil in the fuel tank, [assuming this is a gasser, not a diesel] then raise it up on stands, todays cheap chinese tires dont like to sit in one place for a extended period, then cover it with a car cover to keep the bird and rat crap off of it , but make sure the cover is lined with a soft liner, not all are and if it isnt it will scratch your paint, also if you cover it outside it will flap with the wind and scratch the paint even with a liner ask me how i know lol next spring it will start right up

Thanks guys,

I appreciate your input/advise. I think it will get a cover and barn. I had forgot about the Stabil additive! good point.
