Need help with trailer..

A week ago I tore the plug end off my trailer it"s a 6 prong.. I required it and everything works on my truck and my dads truck except the trailer brakes.. I"ve tested them and we have power at the truck and power at the trailer plug but still no brakes.. Am I missing something here? Any help is Hartley appreciated I have a couple hours in it today and haven"t got anywhere..

Have you reconnected all your grounds??? I kbnow nothing about electric trailer brakes, but if it worked before you yanked the plug, it should work after just the same.....
 
9 times in 10, trailer wiring issues, ESPECIALLY brakes, will be ground related. Jumper (temporary) the ground (on truck) directly to trailer frame and see if things start working. If so, you have your answer.
 
Trailer brakes are really odd beasts sometimes. Make sure you have the right wire as ground on the plug you tore apart. Not every trailer is the same. Its possible your lights are grounding through some other point on the trailer that the brakes arent attached to. Several trailers I had to find the ground wire on the trailer frame to verify it was the color i had used as ground in the plug.
 
You need to see if you are getting power back to the trailer axles. When your plug pulled off it could have broken the wire several feet from the end. So check and see if you have power at the brakes/axles.

If you do then check the ground circuit. You may not have ground for the same broken wire issue. A pulled off trailer plug does not always just yank the end off. I have seen the whole front few feet be messed up.
