NE Chevyland

We are traveling to Ogallala, NE in Nov., if the drought hasn't destroyed it. Years ago I can remember seeing signs for a place off of I80 called Chevyland. Is it still there?

It's still there. In fact, I drove past it on I-80 just last Thursday.

It didn't look like there was too much activity around it, though, although you could see cars sitting by windows. I was running a pretty tight schedule at the time, or I'd have stopped and checked it out 'cause I got off at that exit anyway and headed south to Holdrege.

I went through it once about 20 years ago. At that time, it was open to the public, and charged admission. I have no idea what the situation is now. At the time I went through it, the centerpiece was a '57 Chevy convertible, turquois and white, factory fuel injection, factory continental kit, factory chrome fender skirts, etc., the whole works. Imagine what that sucker is worth today.

Maybe someone else has more current info than I do.

Shoulda mentioned it's on the Elm Creek exit, west of Kearney. You take a right at the exit, then another right and backtrack down a gravel road for a half mile or so.

It is kinda hit or miss being open. They have a rope across the driveway when it's closed. It won't take but a few minutes to drive down the gravel off I 80 to see. Type in cnppid.com to see the lakes water level. I know I and every other farmer have been taling water to irrigate this summer.
