It's so hot.....

It is HOT here (Kearney MO), 8:00 pm and it is still 99 degrees. Baby chicks are panting. had to hose down the grass to cool them off. And the hot n dry is supposed to continue. Whatever happened to those thunder showers that used to pop up because of the heat?

107 today in west central Arkansas. Burn ban on no fireworks for the 4th pastures look like dead of winter feeding cattle for 2 weeks no relief in site.

no humidity in the air here for a pop up to form, this is the driest air I ever remember having in the summer and spring. Usually when it gets 90 degrees plus here it is sticky humid but this year it has been less than 25% humidity most of the time, like desert heat. Going to make '88 look like nothing if it keeps up.

I had my windows open on my car at work all day when I got in and drove off the thermometer read 116°. It's 88 now at 9:07 here in Highland, IL. 30 miles East of St. Louis Mo.

(5 degrees here in central Michigan today. AC failed on my driver education car. Repairs going to drag into next weeks, if they happen at all. Over $600 for new compressor and associated parts. Clutch on compressor failed. Bet boss shas a hard time swallowing that bill.
4-H fair this week, has been very tough on animals and participants.

Now everyone should know that Al was right.
We do have Global Warming. If you don't believe it
just step outside tomorrow.

weather channel explained tonight what country folk knew all along - cities with all that concrete and blacktop have significanly higher temps and as the cities keep getting larger it keeps getting warmer.

Face it, it is external_link fault he just keep blowing to much hot air into the to wind. LOL
Yep way to hot and to dry but the weather man said this June is still cooler then a few years back so go figure.
One thing is with the weather we can complain all day long and it does not change a thing but yes to hot out

i remember one year it was so hot that corn popped in the fields, cows thought it was snow and froze to death,.....

Wish we had some global warming here in Ireland, All we have got this year is global wetting! Cows are all back inside on the concrete and eating the winter rations whilst the grass crops are growing old in the fields, second cut ready to cut and some of the first cut still not mowed. Some places the swathes are still lying in the fields where the chopper was too heavy to lift them. Some salvage operations going on with round balers and plastic wrap but the bales are so heavy it takes a heavy tractor to lift them and the ground is too wet for that! and the crops are doing 20+ bales per acre. Don't know what is best, I am just glad I went early and even made some hay in May. I will send you over some rain if you please send me a portion of your sunshine!

Old is right it is not as hot as it was last year but we are MUCH dryer. I have sweet corn that is only waste high and tassling - this is not good.

And it continues cool and moist in the west. We are in the 60's most days, rejoice if it tops 70 and doesn't rain. Virtually no hay put up yet, except for one BTO with every hay tool imaginable (and a tractor for each), who is sneaking a little bit off during each short rainless period.

Short answer is, we're "north" of the polar jet stream, you guys are "south", and until the high breaks down in the midsection, we're each in for more of the same. Last summer was the same, bulk of the hay came off in late July and early August- but still decent quality, because of cool wet weather leading up to it.
