I was helping a neighbor lady bale.Used her tractor/baler.(JD 4020/347)Syncro range-lots of shifting...wished it was a powershift.Then I realized"I miss my Hydro",It's got me spoiled.I used to dream(back when I baled with the SuperM) that I had a Hydro or a Powershift.I think the hydro is better....

It"s neat seeing you guys haying all ready.

We had a snow and 33°F yesterday morning, the high was 44°F and we got 1.12 inches of rain.
Today it was 67°F and mostly sunny so I sprayed 10 acres of pasture. Spingtime in the Rockies!

When we farmed we baled with a Farmall M on a John Deere 14T baler. The M had plenty of power but would have been better if it had live pto.

I always just put it fifth or 6th and bale never have to shift running a round baler tho when I use to still do idiot cubes (I didn't coin the term but it's about spot on ) I'd run 3rd or fourth

The hay was heavy.Bounced from 1st,2nd,3rd.gear.Got to 4th once, wished for a "lower hole" several times.

The only time I ever had to use first was if I was feeding it a broke bale I sure don't miss feeding so called heavy to a little baler in 2nd or 3rd when the round baler will take it in fifth all day

I can't wait to get started with the different equipment this season. I may regret that attitude about 2 weeks in tho.

This is Small square country(lots of "horseys" and small guys who buy a lot of hay).About the only guys useing rounds are the higher country ranchers who feed thier own.A few 3x3 and 4x4 are here, but not many.

We started out with a Farmall H and a NH super 66. We thought we were really getting big when we moved up to a Super M and a John Deere 24T. I still have knots on my ribs from the 24T leaving the needles in the chamber and bringing everything to a rapid stop, thus me sliding into the steering wheel.

Still bale square bales with a JD 50 and a allis chalmers 442 baler, not one problem other than getting knots to go through without messing up the knotters?

This morning I saw a field cut for 2nd cutting. VERY early here this year. Alot of years some guys are still putting corn in in early/mid June!
