Prayers needed!

I just found out that a friend of mine has been diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). I know that's one of the worst diseases to get. They are having a fundraiser and silent auction for him next weekend. What do you say to someone stricken with a terrible illness. He is one of the nicest guys you'd ever meet. He owns a motorcycle and snowmobile dealership and would give the shirt off his back to help anyone out. His son was a successful factory sponsored snow-cross racer and also competed in ISDE enduro events winning gold and silver medals. He was no slouch on a bike or sled either. It's very sad news to say the least.

That is tough news. I lost a double first cousin to ALS about a decade ago. Prognosis is usually up to five years, he was gone in just over two. Currently have a family friend, local HS German teacher, a gentleman, and a gentle man- in his fourth year....not very long left, no more working antibiotics. His wife and family are such an inspiration to all who follow their journey on Caring Bridge. Prayers to all of you.

What's his last name... I ran ISDE and AMA national Enduro series back in the 70's and 80's. Should know the name. Anyway, prayers to all who need them.

His son raced ISDE in the mid to late 90's and was a Canadian team member. He retired from Sno-Cross about 5 or 6 years ago and bought a big chuck of land in BC, with all his winnings, to open an off road adventure park. He is partnered with his former sponsor BRP (Bombardier)and has snowmobile riding camps, rentals and lessons on new Ski-Doo Summit sleds. His name is Carl Kuster and he was Blair Morgans team mate. He won several big events himself. Google Carl Kuster Mountain Park. It's an impressive place! Carl is a super nice guy just like his dad, that's why it's such sad news about his dad.

Name is vaguely familiar. Seems like I recall him riding in the Great Lakes Enduro Series....It's been a few years and the memory is fading.

My last year to try to qualify on US 6day team was 1990. Rode club teams in '78, '80, '83, '84, '86 thru '89. Some of the nicest people I ever met in life were woods racers. They weren't all caught up in the "image" thing, just out there having fun. 6-days riders had to have all sorts of skills. Off road, MX, their own mechanic, and their own "bank".

I,m pretty sure the dad also raced ISDE events but I only got to know him in the early to mid 90's racing moto-cross. It's highly possible you raced with him. I know he organized a fund raiser to help send the Canadian ISDE team to Europe. He could go through the bush like a scared jack rabbit on a bike and he's rescued a lot of guys on sleds that didn't know how to get out after going into a deep bowl in the mountains. I remember him talking about some guy that figured he'd need a helicopter to get his sled out. He asked the guy if he could try and rode it out no problem. He just zig-zagged across the hill instead of trying to go straight up.
