Is there a difference between bean headers and grain headers? We DID change the reels........way back when.

Zeb, that is a Hume pick-up reel, listed in the combine manuals. Grain and bean head was the same thing. That may not be a K head, I've never seen one without the quick attach brackets.

Thanks, never knew that. Was the quick attach an option? Our E had the wedges, the EIII and K both were quich attach. All three new or second owner.

Grain headers have a rigid cutterbar, guards mounted directly on the front of the head. Bean headers usually have a floating cutterbar, but the rigid head can cut beans. Just more loss by not being able to hug the ground. My first combine, a K, had to switch between FCB/reel and the pickup unit.....didn"t have a dummy head for the pickup.
