6 cyl John Deere A

Going to be an auction next Sat near me. Went to see what was there yesterday. Kinda sad. There are about 40 tractors or, what's left of them, and some equip. As I was checking things out, I came to an A with a Ford straight 6 engine in it. Decent looking job. Would be quite a conversation piece if it was running and painted up.

Never seen that but I have seen a Olds 350 desiel put in one and looked like factory setup I would think that 6 cylinder would be long enough the frame and hood would have had to be extended.

saw JD G with 460 ford cross mounted 6 belts from ford to crank (flywheel removed) of G with 24 inch pulley, pistons out, oil pump functional. That thing would make a 4020 look for a hole to hide in!!!

No MM Tristar. It wasn't the 300 Ford, it was the smaller one it fit in the frame perfect. There must be a 90 degree gearbox in the crankcase. I noticed that the clutch drive disc is welded onto a shaft. That would make it about impossible to change the inner friction disc. Also it has a small hyd pump where the dist should be with a tube going into the crankcase just ahead of the pump and the other going to the oil galley on the Ford. Didn't look to see if there was a return line to the JD crankcase. You can see the list at powersauction.com.It's the Hertzfelt auction. There weren't that many tractors the yesterday.

I saw a B one time that had a 4 cyl Sheppard diesel in it. A very nice job. The fellow told me that there was a chevy S-10 rear end in where the crankcase was.

How about a JD'G' with a 454 bb Chevy?
