John Deere G value

Don't know much about these, but a co-worker's grandfather has one that he wants to sell. It is supposed to be in good running condition, nice sheet metal, decent tires, a New Idea loader with snow bucket and tire chains, stored inside. Grandfather is thinking he'd like $2800 for it. Co-worker is wondering if this is both a realistic asking price, as well as fair amount for grandfather.

It is in the ball park. The letter series have fell in value unless it is something unique. The "G" seems to be in higher demand than the others. So there value is still up there.

I have a 1951 G that I did a complete restoration on a few years ago and I wouldn't take that for mine.
