Schoharie, NY AC collector??

Yesterday I heard about an older gentleman in the Schoharie Valley who collects Allis Chalmers who apparently has several All Crop combines.

Anybody have any idea who he might be, much less have contact info? I am looking for an All Crop and haven't had much luck finding one anywhere near here.

When I was stationed in Buffalo, a friend of mine from church would work on tractors on Sundays and stuff. As I remember, there is an Allis Chalmers shop in Tonawanda about 4 blocks from the Indian Reservation. If you're close to Western New York and go there, it has the antique Allis Chamlers dealer sign. If they can't help you, head over to the Reservation, which is in Sanborn. Next to the Smoking Joes gas station is a road. Go about half a mile onto the res. on that road and you will see a junk yard(small salvage yard). Ask for Chief Laughing Crow. He has contacts all over the country, well at least the eastern side. He can tell you where one is. I use to work for him, and, if there is an All Crop for sale at a reasonable price, he'll know of it.

might be a guy in the town of glen, near fonda, ny, close to LJ hand's farm center,
had a guy stop once to ask about a "G" we had sitting near one of the barns, offering to buy/trade it, in our chat he mentioned where he lived and a pretty spectacular collection, invited us to stop over any time.
after my dad and i got talking we realized it might be a guy located on some back roads that we had driven by a couple of times.
i bet if you were to stop in to LJ Hand's Farm Center in Glen, NY they woul be able to direct you to the right guy but i'm pretty sure i know who you are talking about and he was a nice friendly guy.

while you are at Hand's, walk slowly thru the store

go all the way back and you will be amazed at what they have in stock

you don't find many of these old time farm supply stores

so far...there has only ever been 2 things they don't carry - 1. pto yoke parts for NH 2. wheel bearings for a cheap utility trailer...every thing else we have ever needed they have...i always feel bad reading about people's hour long trips to the part store...we are 8 minutes from Hands.
best part is their pricing system - whatever price they put on it, is the price it is..so if you dig back through some older parts you can get a good deal...
also, the people there tend to know quite a bit about everything.

Does Mark Hayes still work the counter there? He was always quite helpful. Love that place but have not been if a few years.

LL Hand has a great place but he's not really in the Schoharie Valley. Neither is the Town of Glen. That's more near the Mohawk Valle/Fultonville area and in Montgomery County.

I'm assume you know much of "downtown" "Schoharie got wiped out by the floods. Even the County Clerks office was washed out. They still have their temporary headquarters near me in Colbleskill. FEMA is still here too - wasting money.

Try calling the New Holland ex-Ford tractor dealer in Schoharie. Nice people and if there's a AC collector around - they'll know him. Miller Tractor on Main St, Schoharie. 518-295-7733.

MacFaddens in Sharon Springs should also know. 518-284-2090

Also - there's a huge AC tractor place in northern Michigan that says he often goe to this area of New York to buy up AC equipment. Summerix Equipment specializing in Allis Chalmers. Lachine, Michigan. 989-379-2721

That store is one of the few things I miss from Upstate NY after my move to TX. I guess it is the price I pay for not having to shovel snow anymore.

If you are from the area and haven"t visited there for parts you need to drop everything and go visit. A little bit of tractor heaven...

Jake, I live in Schoharie county and can think of only one place where I've seen an impressive array of A-Cs, including about 4 D-21s. Many of his tractors are all restored (or at least painted up pretty). I think most or all of his tractors are considered working tractors although I understand he's more of a "gentleman farmer". I can't think of the guy's name but he lives on a farm in Ames on route 10 just north of Sharon Springs.
If you ever go to McFadden's show in June at Sunnycrest Orchards, you only have to go north on Rt. 10 a few miles 'til you come to Ames.
Turn left off Rt. 10 right in Ames and his place is almost immediately on the right. I think he's actually right in the Hamlet of Ames.
Where are you located? I'm 10 miles south of Cobleskill in West Fulton.
