How can you back out those drive screws without messing everything up? It's understood that you don't really care about the tag since it's going to be replaced, but you don't want to shear off the screws in the casting. thanks, Fritz

Way I was told and it works. Get a mini "wonder bar" and make it extra sharp. Work it under the edge and slowly pry. Once it starts out usually you can grab hold with a pair of pliers and twist as you pull.

Once they start to come out they go pretty easy.

I use a "side cutter" pliers. Usually they have a bevel on both sides of the cutting edge, I grind off some on the outer edge so it will get under the head easily. Just grab them and pry out with a little side pressure on the pliers.

Anything that shows a serial plate has been removed and a plate back on says STOLEN, better not having a plate than a removed and replaced one.

Don't worry, it's not hot. I'm just changing the plate because you can't make out the numbers under this sloppy hand-stamp job. Can't understand why all the paint is ground off the side of the block around the oil filter

A potentiall buyer will not know that tho. And if he needed a loan to buy then the finance company would be if they knew it was replaced be questioning it.
