With the diverse group of people we have on this forum and their vast experience I humbly ask for your help and opinions. I am looking for a new place to live!
Our current rural town is all but dead and our family of four is in a consensus to move. I have lived here all of my life and have not traveled too far from home, ever. I now need to think of my kids, as they deserve better. The things I think I need to look for:
Good Schools--high school for now and college in their future.
Healthcare—Quality healthcare as I am getting older.
Reasonable housing and property tax rates. I like the country and a few acres. A 30 minute trip to town is OK.
Low crime and drug rates. No racial tension.
Traffic—good roads, little to no congestion.
Religion—Baptist, don’t want to move into nnalert jihad territory.
Climate--I like it warm, not hot, but would not mind a little snow ever now and then. I do not want to live in tornado, hurricane or earthquake prone areas.
Terrain—I do like the mountains and hills—just no flat land as far as the eye can see. I love the outdoors and like to hunt and dislike fishing.
Employment-- The wife and I both teach, but I have a couple of business plans that require a busy walking climate (tourist trap with the ability to sell liquor) that is aimed at souvenirs and other products for tourists to purchase.
Looking for Tennessee, Eastern, North Carolina or Northern, South Carolina locations, and of course I will take the tractor with me.
