Is winter over?

Nothing like that but it sure has been mild. I've been waiting for a hard freeze to get 7 acres of corn that is out yet. It could get miserable yet between now and April. My gut feeling is that this will continue to be mild and the winter of 2012-2013 will be miserable starting in November. Again, just a feeling on my part. I am sure the snowmobile crowd is disappointed. Also, it shows the ski center can be a very risky business.

Very mild here in southern MN, but we got an inch or 2 of snow a day ago; now they are forcasting 30mph winds with another 1-3 inches of snow, some wind gusts could reach 50mph over nite.

That should add to the festivities!

Has it started yet?

We had 10 inches of snow on the ground the week before Christmas and then a chinook came through on the 26th and the snow is gone. It"s been mild and wet for most of this week an we got a skiff of snow this morning on the ground.
wee have a lot of clouds but the eather seems to be coming from the SW with little cold Artic air to make snow. The feeding ground is looking pretty bad and I"d like to be feeding on fresh snow but people in he** want ice water, too!

I knew once I bought a snow blower, I wouldn"t need to use it! But it"s early times and there"s plenty of time left for a few blizzards and sub-zero temps.

we haven't got over 5 inches of snow here on il and wis state line.
makes me think of winters in mid 70s when we had very little snow just cold.
we haven't got below 9 or 10 yet.
most years we have made 0 by now. i remember some new year's eve when it was - 20.
very little frost in ground here yet.
a friend was telling me he and his sons put a steel roof on a barn last week.

Still waiting on the cold, snowy winter the weather man from Grand Rapids predicted. Won't break my heart if he's wrong, but its gotta freeze up before I can haul much wood. Happy New Year all.

Oldtimers used to say, "When the days begin to lengthen, the winter begins to strengthen".

I was wondering how you were getting along with harvest. About a month ago, I was told from the Illinois line to Pennsylvania on I-80 that nothing was done and water standing everywhere. Hope you got all your crops out. Chris

Beautiful day out there today - mid 40"s and little or no wind, partly sunny. We"re in for a nasty tomorrow. Weather bureau has various storm warnings out for tonite. So far we"ve dodged the bullet, but can"t expect that we"ll be lucky all winter.

February has been the worst month the last 2 years. We have already had 8" of snow and most of that fell in November. That's the 1st November snow in over 35 years. We haven't been very cold but have had lots of rain and MUD.
