OT: World's Tiinest V12 engine

Holy crap that is incredible.
So...This guy designed this himself I take it?
And machined the whole thing himself?
Is there an oil pump in it to get oil to the top end of the engine, lifters, cam.?

I didn't see the oil pump, but he must of had someway to lube the engine. We ran V12 cylinder engines on a stationary dynamometer after the engine was torn down and measured. These engines were made by Continental Motors out of MI. They were 1790cid gas with turbochargers. They were used in some M47 Tanks and the M48 Tank
and the late M48's had the 1790 V12 Diesels before the M60 was built. We ran them on the test stand too for 240 hours. The same company built the diesels and these were all air cooled engines. We also ran drawbar and full load cooling tests on these vehicles. Hal
PS: Here's the Heavy Field Dynamometer we used for drawbar and cooling tests.

If you want a big bunch of those type projects, go to this show in the Detroit area:
http://www.namesexposition.com/ It will be held April 21, 22, 2012.
It is the North American Model Engineering Society. I have not looked for the videos yet but in the past, they had running versions of Offy Indy engines, Harley motorcycle, flathead Ford engines, almost anything you could imagine.

Since it's a compressed air engine he probably doesn't have any means of forced lubrication. Just oils it before he runs it.

You should be able to see the video. I don't like cheesecake, but I do like coconut cakes. My wife made this for Christmas one year. Hal

Go to youtube and search for running scale model engines. How about a running (on real fuel, not air)supercharged V8, the Offy Indy engine, V twin Harley, the list goes on. A person can forget the time real quick watching them.

That is an amazing little engine outstanding great workmanship to build something like that. When he was assembling the rod and one almost fell off I was wondering how many times some did, with my old fingers it would be numerous times :D

Thanks for posting

El Toro: Thanks for the link.. I saw a model V-12 of the Rolls Royce Merlin in a Model airplane mag maybe 10-15 years ago. It was maybe twice the size but was able to run by itself. Either one is really a joy to see. Gotta have good eyes and a steady hand doing that kind of work.. There are a couple model engine companies in Japan. OS Max makes some very good 4 stroke model engines in many sizes and multi cylinder inline as well as radial etc.. www.osengines.com/ take a look.. ag
good Model engines from Japan
