Just got home from a meeting at the extension agent with the state police, concerning the new DOT regs. Turns out there not new, their just gonna start enforcing whats on the books. The high points are as follows. Anything thats over 10,001 pounds is required to have a DOT#, annual inspection, and a log book/daily inspection book if operated over 150mi from home. Also if your rig articulates(trailer} you will need a class A CDL. Its not good, but it could be a lot worse. Well ive got to go get a #, bump up to a class A, and get my inspection.

Thats nothing new, that's been that way for years. Now they are enforcing the seat belt BS even more. It's your word against theirs!

When they came to this county last year they also said that if you haul a load of cows to town for your neigbor you need to buy them from him in the drive way for a $1 and sell'm back to him when you get parked at the stock yard. In other words never ever claim to have some one else's cows on your trailer.

He also warned every one to take the wife's car with out farm tags if your cross the little bridge or the ferry just north of here. He said that any thing with farm tags when you cross over into that other world also has to have fuel tax stickers and the whole nine yards,,,, on a half ton pick up. He said if you want to go to an auction up there take the car, buy what you want and pay to have it hauled to the gas station on this side of the river.
