It starting raining last evening and rained off & on all night and is still raining. Praise the Lord!! It's not a drought ender but it's sure nice to hear the rain falling on my metal roof.

Jim, don't know where in N Texas you are, but here where I is (about 50 miles N of Abilene) we've got little over 4½ in since 10:00a yesterday and it's still coming down and more predicted for today. Good thing is it's been pretty much a slow steady rain, just what we been needing.

Still no rain in central Tx, hoping for some today, trees are dying and ponds are dry or almost dry. Fire danger is still high and all livestock and wild animals are suffering, but maybe we will see some rain today.

I live 30 miles south of Ft Worth in the newest town in Tx called Coyote Flats.
I've lived in "the country" all my life until the town was created and was unlucky enough to get annexed.

(quoted from post at 07:56:47 10/09/11) glad to hear some good news for you folks down there. Is that near the Howells?
ope. howells 100 or so east. probably none. maybe they will surprise me....I hope.

Jim, can't help but grin. Gotta be a joke there somewhere...coyote flats?? Next thing you gonna tell me is you live on Roadrunner lane...lol

I saw that on the weather last night. It was the biggest line of weather I've ever seen. It went from Mexico up through Kansas. It missed me though. I live 40 miles east of Dallas.

No joking involved. I just copied and pasted this from GOOGLE

Jim, we are about 450 miles south of you and we got some rain yesterday, but it was not associated with that front. Instead it was coming off the gulf. The bad part was the lightning that was with it. Not a lot, but one hit very close. The wife was in the middle room when it hit, and the ceiling light started flashing and I yelled turn off the light which she did. 5 minutes later I smelled smoke. She called 911, I turned off all the breakers to the house. Smoke was bad, but couldn't tell where it was coming from. Our volunteer FD found a hot wall (something I didn't think to look for) and offered to open it up and I agreed. An outlet got hot and was melting the wire going up the wall. Never knew sheetrock could burn, but it was so hot it burnt through it as well as some backing paper and part of a 2X4. Very scary, but at least we did get some rain and didn't loose the house!

I live halfway between Abilene & Dallas on I-20. Got over 5 inches. It may not have ended the drought but it sure stalled it.

I checked my rain gauge at 9AM this morning and poured out 4.9" and I just checked it again and poured out .9". As I stated earlier "Praise the Lord"

Less than one-half inch here just north of Houston, so far. Quite a bit of thunder, but not much else.

Just some light rain over here south end of Van Zandt Co. About 75 mi. SE of Dallas. Damp but we'll take every little bit we can get.
