selling/shipping parts to Canada $

For those of you selling parts to our Canadian friends, how do you handle the money side? I've sold before but that was thru ee bay and pay pal. This is not thru them and don't want to give ppal $20 to do it.

any luck cashing Canadian money orders? Where can you cash them and how long does it take to go thru?

Once my dad's bank charged him 50 dollars to cash a Canadian m.o. I told him to go to the bank and get his money order back.You better ask first. It will go by the daily exchange rate .Check with your own bank.

I have used U.S. postal international money orders without any issues.

Depending on the size of your bank, they might be able to handle that for you (as one of their customers) at little or no charge. If not...I'm sure they can point you in the right direction. Won't hurt a thing to start inquiring at home.

Thanks. I'll check a couple local banks too. Our Credit will cash it but "could take" 2-3 weeks to clear.

He told me the MO would be in US currency from his Canadian bank.

I use paypal most of the time. If the customer does not have paypal, I help them set one up.

I have done quite a bit of business in Canada. The main thing you want to do is make sure the MO is on an American Bank. Most of them are, and it will take about 5 - 7 days to clear. Just hang on to the item until your bank says it's good to go. Bob

i always wondered what the problem was as to why lots of places never would do buisness in canada,never even thought about the money difference.is the same elsewhere such as mexico?or is it something in the canadian banking system that makes it different?

It has been awhile, but I am thinking I got a check from an international bank drawn to dollars. I had no problems cashing, and no fees from my bank.

The money orders we can get up here in Canada from a Canadian bank or the post office for the US are in US funds. I have never been told there was a problem from any one I have sent them to.

Please don't ship anything too heavy into Canada. It's makes the poor sled dogs work too hard.
