Super A runs hot

I have super A that is losing radiator fluid. There is no water in the oil and no visible leaks. The water gets hot and rises up so it goes out the overflow. It doesn't get so hot that I have to park it either. I just have to add water before each use. Anyone have any ideas?

How high are you trying to maintain the coolant level?

Many older siphon cooling systems will spit out any excess fluid that is over the crown sheet of the radiator.

Put a new pressure cap on it and keep the coolant 1/2 in. above core. You can rebuild the engine and it will do the same thing, if you work it hard.

Does it have a temp gauge on it??? If it does not how do you know it is running hot?? You say it does not run hot enough to over heat well then you are probably over filling the radiator and so when it gets warm the coolant expands and has to go some place to the excess goes out the over flow. Run it do not refill it and see if it runs well and does not over heat. If that works then you where the problem not the coolant system. If it does over heat then you could have a cracked sleeve since it is a wet sleeve engine and your burning/steaming the coolant

You are filling it too much. Next time you use ir dont add any water then when it cools down the level will probably be the same as when you started. Those cooling systems do expand a lot in the hyge tank above the cores. Normal level is probably down like three in from the top of the neck. Your only problem is overfilling ive been running these systems since 1947 so im not blowing any smoke to you.

my john deere 60 will piddle out the overflow if you fill it full, once it finds its own level(top of the core passages) it doesnt go any lower. Bill

Mine runs kinda hot for 15 years. If really hot, like boiling, fan belt is loose or rad is plugged. No water pump that I know of and cap is vented, no pressure at all in system. Dave

Think you are worrying about nothing, what quantity do you replace?. If you fill it to the overflow pipe then it is expansion as OLD says.
Next time don't add water and watch the Temp gauge. It may have reached its operating level.
