posted earlier about dog getting skunked, she fine now,,,,but let her run in the back yard, thought she was trying to chase cat, no, now i see a family of five striped kitties, and to top it off, other day while leaving property, see the cat sitting on top of table, brown fox sitting on ground, they not enemy;s, there sharing food we put out for cat, also now i see the skunk coming around to eat also,,hell they are all friends.....just can"t win

set a live trap out with the main course and let them see how good a friends they really r;;;;

I'm cutting grass/hay/weeds, moving cars/tractors/boat/5th,,,they won't have any thing to hide under soon...maybe they take residency at the neighbor's...the cat i don't mind, he a mouser

I'm in the same boat for a couple years now. The cat gives eskimo kisses to the skunks, since then, the skunks don't bother us at all, sniff our legs and walk away. And now he is sitting on the back porch with the young possums. Haven't seen any skunks in awhile,I guess the do a summer circut like the coyotes. Either way, the mouse, mole and grub population is zero. Fewer rabbits around, and I see their little footprints down the rows, and I swear they eat the beetles off the plants too, been a decent year to bug loss. So I just put up with this stupid Walt Disney movie out there...

I wish I had a few skunks around to keep the mouse population down. My neighbor keeps shooten them.

PBS had an interesting show a week or so ago about skunks. Pet food brings them in close. To wash a skunked dog mix peroxide, baking soda and detergent and work it in good and rinse.

A skunk will destroy your sweet corn, kill your chickens, spray your dog and cat, spray under the back porch.Show up on the back porch and spray you.Hit one with your car and you will lose your love for skunks fast.

Skunks can raise havoc in a chicken coop. Dig up large areas of a hay field. Not something I want living close to my farmstead. Not terribly welcome around here.
