Funny Road Signs

I'm sure everyone has seen a road sign before that made them laugh or wonder what it meant. Today while in town I took a different route back home and saw this sign, so needless to say I had to stop and get a picture. There is one at each end of the road, and midway is an elementary school. Not sure if the school bus has to stop at the sign and make the kids walk the last half mile or what! Never did see any unicycles on the road either, seems that's the only thing that would be legal.

A Donky Kart passes the test, as does a racing sulky. Even a blimp would do!!!.
I once saw a detour sign that got wordy Tempoary Runaround Ahead seemed like standing in line to be told it was the wrong line! Jim

Saw one in Pittsburgh awhile back.

You know, I wouldn't have thought of doing that but after a quick search I found where you can do that online.......so I sent it. Let me know if you see it, as I'm usually in bed before Jay comes on.
Pretty easy to send a pic or headline, if anyone else has something they want to share follow the link I've included.

The one that stands out is one county over, there is a road that turns right off the highway to a landfill and between the cemetary to your right and the road that goes to the right a sign reads Sanitary Landfill, from a short distance it appears to be indicating the cemetary, been like that for years. I suppose the locals cannot see the forest for the trees.

In the winter the village of Pulaski NY ('town' for us) puts up signs that say "No Snowmobiles On Sidewalk". I should have taken a picture.

For alot of years there was a sign in town that said dead end. It was right to at the end of the road was the cemetary. They changed it a couple years ago to say no outlet. Lawrence has a street named four wheel drive.

after the 911 address change come through if your house isnt visible from the road you have to name your drive well one in the area is aunt fat a$$ lane with the correct letters of course

The signs that get me are the ones that say NO TRUCKS ALLOWED.

Almost everywhere now pickups are licensed as trucks so they should be restricted from proceeding where the signs are posted----such as neighborhoods where people live.

I saw this on a sign in front of a church one time:

Don't forget the surprise birthday party for Besty Smith on Saturday evening at Six o'clock!

I wondered how they kept her from seeing the sign?

US hwy 89 runs south to north from the Mexican border to the Canadian border out west. US Hwy 89 runs through my town, but not straight north/south, it makes a 90 degree turn right in the center of town. But the street also continues on as if it were still US 89. It becomes a residential street and eventually dead-ends. North-bound travelers very often will continue straight through the intersection and end up in the hills, lost.

A few years back the city put up a large white sign about 100 yards through the intersection on the residential street stating in black letters "This Is Not US Highway 89."

That's it, no better directions. I found that kinda of dumb, but funny. The sign is gone now, I guess the state didn't find it too funny. Better US Hwy signs with arrows now are at the intersection.

The funniest one I can remember seeing was a construction sign. Instead of saying SLOW...men working, with the SLOW at the top and the other wording under it, this one said 'SLOW MEN' across the too with the word 'working' under it. What made it soooo funny at the time is that it was set out for a state crew and I didn't see a sole doing anything but leaning on a tool of setting on a machine that was setting still.

WHY should a "sole" do anything more than to fill out the bottom of it's owner's shoe????????????????????????

While visiting my brother when he was stationed at Fort Benning, GA we saw signs for tank crossing. Though not funny it was amusing to us Iowans. The tanks and other tracked vehicles had dirt roads that ran along side the paved roads and had cross over points. Be hard to miss a tank crossing the road in front of you! Wish we had gotten a good picture of it.

At the end of every expressway entrance ramp in Michigan that I've seen is a sign with the symbol for "No Left Turn". Your tax dollars at work! Think a lawyer was involved in this at some time????

In WV any PU 8000 under have same License as Cars Class "A", over 8000 they have Class "B". But most signs prohibting truck say
"Trucks Over 3 Tons".

Well - not a road sign, but my brother sent me a pic of a sign that sez,

PRIVATE SIGN
DO NOT READ

Favorite business name is the Dodo Mortuary in Hawaii. No truth to the rumor that the motto is "for when you're dead as one."

There was a sign on the hi-way passing in front of the airport in So. Cal that said "Caution, low flying aircraft".
What were you supposed to do, duck?

believe it or not,in oklahoma city there are parts of town where its illegal to have a pickup in sight of the road after a certain hour.
