Well got a call yesterday evening from a guy that I did a job for on his Ford Bronco. He said hey I will pick it up tomorrow so I say ok. Well it almost 2 days from then and he has not picked it up. About an hour after he called I had another guy call and say hey can you haul in my truck so we can start fixing it so I say no I have to stay here for this guy which has yet to show. I am thinking maybe since he did not show and has not called to tell me hey this or that came up I should charge him a day or so of my time what would you do?????????? Yep not happy right now and lost a day just because a person does not know how to let others know what is going on

I would go with the "Why did you come back, you picked it up 2 days ago like you wanted, I was here with you, my wife saw it, you still need to pay me ! If this is some insurence scam I will call the police ! Get off my property!" Rack the 12 ga and see what happens. Of course, I don't have Dave2's people skills.

Old, Ill repeat what my father in law said 50 years ago.Things happen to people that put them off schedule. He might not have enough money to pay you.I had a customer who failed to pick up some lumber I had planed for him.He died on the day he was due to pick it up.

He didnt pick it up when he said he would so I would have gone out on the other job and fixed it so he couldnt just take his Bronco. If he had to wait because of you not being there,Oh well! bill

After a reasonble length of time, about one hour after not showing, take your cell phone and go get the other vehicle. That way if he did finally show up and you're not there he can call you and make another appointment. In the future you can indicate that they must be at the place for their appointment or you may not be there as you have other business.

I generally wait around 30 minutes before moving on to the next job on the list, whether it be at home or otherwise.

I set a time with these jokers, not just a day, If they are going to be here at 10, I wont wait more then half an hourat 10.30 I go do something else

Pin them down for a time, thats how the professional shops do it. If you're late for the app, you either reschedule or wait til we find time here or there.

a couple things comes to mind,,,,, he calls and says he'll p/u that day. funny, then you get a call for a haul, maybe related to the no show, hum, unless you know these people..... then i would lock it up so they would have to contact you to get with storage fee, other wise you can tell them you are filing for a mechanic lien to sell for costs...See how quick they respond if they want it that bad....or as other said, calll them, tell them they have x amount time to p/u before chages apply...

Different people different places and yep know them all. As for him paying me I did this job for a GMC S15 Blazer so hard to do much with out him being thee. Sure do not want to pick up the blazer with out a title in hand

In Pa , (But you have to own a registered repair business) after 30 days from completion of the job Owner is no longer responsible for others vehicles and can be considered as storage Item if no money has been paid then the bill goes up until the cost of fixing , storage equal to the repair bill.

After so long the shop owner can apply for a "Mechanics Title" to sell car to recoup his investment and wages.

So says a local shop owner Many cars now at his Dads farm being scrapped out because of the economy around here. but they also belonged to dead beat reliefers.

set time and if nt their then I am on to another project to be picked up or delivered. I wait on nobody anymore, whether it wqs hay sales, machinery sales or part sales. state time and thats it.

A little over a year ago my dad and I went on a 2 hour trip to go look at a forage chopper and planned to meet the guy at X time. He didn't live right there, but he said no problem. We got there early so we looked it over good, then I called him.

"Oh, I'm on my way. It'll take me about an hour to get there though...." I told him that we weren't waiting a &%#$!@$ hour for him and we needed to get going home, unless we could make a deal. "Well, are you planning to pull it home then?" No, we came in a car just incase we decide against it. After looking it over, I don't think it's worth more than $300. The knives are shot and the rest of it is pretty much worn out. "Nah, I gotta have atleast $1000 for it" (If I remember right, the ad had said $500 O.B.O.)

I chewed him out a little for wasting our time and went home.

Sometimes it's the seller or the one providing something that can do it too.
