Finally got a day off and I am caught up on most everything. Got up took my daughter to the barn to get her goats ready for a show at a local fair then off to get a shower. Got done and was getting ready when I heard the wife screaming. Went into the bathroom and water was boiling out of the bathtub drain and from under the toilet as the washer was emptying in the utility room. So much for nothing to do today. Rental place was closed and I don"t have a pipe snake so I guess it can wait till monday. Hope everyone has a good weekend. Daughter did great at the show though!!

At least you know how to fix it yourself! Basic same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago, but neither of my drain snakes did any good. Went to Home Despot to get a bigger snake and spotted a handy-dandy little rubber gizmo that goes on the end of a water hose. When you run the rubber bulb down into the drain and turn on the hose, the rubber expands to seal the drain and water pressure pushes the clog on down the line (hopefully). Worked like a champ for me and cost less than 10 bucks if I recall. Never got to use my new bigger snake, but I kept it anyway. I used to see Dad run the water hose down the sink drain, stuff rags around it to seal the drain and he"d have one of us run turn the hose on, but this rubber gizmo is pretty cool. Good luck.

Those rubber gizmos are the cat's meow for getting the sewer moving again too. Kind of like an industrial enema. Hope the person who invented it made some money.

When my son was little he screwed the rubber gizmo onto the sink faucet and turned it on. When it got real big he panicked and ran. Mama wasn't real happy about the walls getting washed when it blew up. Dad wasn't too happy about having to buy a new one as they were hard to find at that time. Jim

I re-read my post and realized I wasn't clear about the rubber bulb. The one I got is too big to go in a sink drain, so I went out to the cleanout closest to the clog (a 4" sewer line)outside the house. Turned the water on for just a few seconds, shut it off, and the line was clear by the time I walked back over to check it. Yeah, I wonder if the inventor made any royalties off that bad boy.

I gotta try to find one of those things. I live about 60 miles from any major hardware store, but it might be worth the trip.
