I got a call from someone who said my competition recommended me to do a mowing job. I said why didn't he want to do the work? He told me his tractor was stolen. The guy works in a very high rent area, known as Rancho Santa Fe Calif. I thought his equipment would be very safe. You just never know who is watching yout stuff. I don't mind the work I just hate to see someone lose a tractor.Stan

I had 90% of my carpentry tools stolen from my trailer that was 50 feet from a house and across the street from a monastery in what is a affluent town. That one took me by surprise.Hope he finds it.

Just last week, the place I buy fuel at there was some guys talking about somebody had stolen a local farmer's JD 8430 overnight right out of the field. Just unhooked the plow and drove off with it.
About noon that day a pumper making rounds on his leases found it about 20 miles away down in a canyon blocking a gate he needed to go through. No damage to the tractor at all other than the amount of fuel used. Sheriff dusted for prints but probably won't do no good.

Think about it. The crooks can be dumb but don't have to be. If I'm going to steal a nice tractor or boat or whatever whos going to have one? Ain't going to be in a low reat area!

On the plus side at least yer competition thinks enough to stake his reputation on you.

A few years ago they were building a new church in the neighboring town. They had theft problems and had installed top of the line security cameras. Pal of mine was doing the grading work. His tractor was stolen, they had the guys on vidio and identified them. Cops could not find the tractor. They told him "Without the tractor for evidence, there is nothing we can do." And they did nothing. Hope this guys cops are better than the ones here in Iowa.

On or around Thanksgiving Day last year someone stole a 40 foot +/- Minimum tillage machine from a new dealer in Indiana. The dealer posted photos of it in Farm World Magazine & was was offering a reward for it. I dont think to this day its been found! Thats a big machine to get away with!

No evidence? What the heck do you call a video of the tractor being stolen? Oh, I forgot. Recording a thief without their permission is inadmissible as evidence

Sadly, the local law enforcement has more important work to do, like supporting the local doughnut shoppe. UknowhatImean?
