OT:Looks like overhead door is rusting

Looks like my overhead door is rusting, however I think the metal particles from the grinder and welder that are left on the concrete, are splashing up when it rains and sticking to the door instead. Somewhat difficult to get the rust spots off the door. Any ideas how to fix the problem. No way I can sweep all the iron paritcles from the concrete. Open for ideas. Thanks, George

Mine are looking like that on doors where no welding and grinding have taken place. Just maybe alot of gook in the air ? roof shingles look like heck too.

Paint the floor and mop up every now and then??? Lotta folks, professional garages, tractor shops, etc included tile the floors for easy cleanup. Tiles are cheap here though........

Yes like Ron Says use a magnet.

I found if you put it in a ziploc bag it will pick up everything -- to clean magnet just take off the bag.

I also use this method when after dropping a box of tacks -etc. only turn the bag inside out first when you pull it off the magnet turn it back the right way and seal it .

Old Roy, the zip lock bag and magnet is a good Idea.

I have found out the hard way that if I don't sweep up the metal saw dust after using my chop saw outside I will see rusty concrete after the next rain.
