O/T: '95 Pontiac 3.1L engine swap?

My lady has a "95 Grand Prix, she loves the car(so basically I really want to fix it for her) but it needs an engine. It has a bad top end noise, sounds like #1 piston broke. Of course this happened after we spent about $300 putting new intake gasket, alternator and rear struts on it.

But anyway...
I"ve found a 3.4L out of a "99 Grand Am GT for $200. Will these engines interchange? Will I have problems with electronics not matching/hooking up? Is there a place online where I can look up engine swap info?

To make this a tractor related post, I have a 1941 9N. In support of Lyle, who seems to have caught a lot of flack lately, I enjoy your posts and think you should keep doing what you"re doing.

Opinions and suggestions appreciated. Y"all have a good day!

Thanks,

Anthony

No offence intended, but that's an awfull lot of work for a $200 engine even if it would work. A decent engine should cost twice that at a minimum.

I think electronics would be a problem Thinking you would be happier with parts store reman in the long run
