F250 questions

I've got a 2000 F250 with the 5.4l V8 gas engine.

It was cutting out going up a hill with a small load on my trailer this afternoon... Does anyone know what the proper pressure should be at the rail on engine?? A gauge showed 22-24 with it hot idling... I replaced the fuel filter shortly after I bought it last fall.

As many fuel pumps as I replaced on my old '94 & '92 F250s with 351s, I'd have thought Ford would have improved the fuel pumps by the year 2000!

Thanks a lot,
Howard

I sort of wondered that - but it doesn't act quite like it did when I DID have a coil go bad. Besides, Autozone was able to put a code checker on before and see which cylinder was misfiring - this time it didn't show any codes related to the coil-over-plugs.

It just showed a set of "lean bank 1", and "transition" type errors.

But overall - it just seemed like it was starving for gas...

Coil related problems on 5.4 Triton engines are very common. Lots of times a bad coil will not set a code. You need someone who has a good scan tool to access the engine control module under generic mode and go to non continuous monitors. At non continuous monitors, to to $53 and look at the counters for actual miss fires to know which cylinder is miss firing.
Hope this helps,
