wiring harnesses made from soy and nut products

Just an FYI, don't know if it's been posted before, if so forgive me but I just heard of it today. Read this on another forum where someone stated that modern automakers are making wire coverings from Soy and Nut based compounds and of course rats, mice and varmints just love to chew on the tasty wires. He said that FORD and Honda were known for this but I suppose they could be in any machinery.
Keep your modern vehicles away from the critters!

Yes. Honda has a special rodent repelling tape that they sent to dealers to wrap rodent-damaged wiring.

I heard Subaru was using soy based insulation a long time ago, an effort to make the cars more recyclable.

And yes, rodents loved it!

Yes, this has come up a few times before. It is good to know that there is a rodent repelling tape. Every time this topic comes up it starts a good discussion of various ways that members keep their rodents at bay which will start now.

Cousins year old truck went in to the shop with some electrical issues. First thing out of the dealerships mouth before they even looked at the truck was mouse damage isn't covered under warranty. His truck sits in an attached garage and mice are a nonissue in his house. He told them if you try to claim it's mouse damage you're lying your A$$ off.

I have a 2013 Toyota Sienna van. I split my time between a home in the city and one in the country. I've had three occasions where the brake warning light came on when I first started the van in the morning. On all three occasions, the van was parked outside at our rural home, and the dealership said that the wire near one of the rear wheels had been cut or chewed through.

Rodent nested on my motorhome engine and ate fuel injector wires. I can't reach it to fix. I now have a cat that patrols all vehicles.

Decomposing wire insulation, what can go wrong with that? Oil spill eating microbes, what can go wrong with that? Pesticide producing food crops, what can go wrong with that? Preventing heart disease by risking the patients health with poisons, what can go wrong with that?

Dad planted soybeans with a corn planter, I think, in 1942. harvested with a binder and thrased with a shredder. Wartime, encouraged to try new things. Henry Ford supposedly was using soybean made window cranks?? Never heard of animals eating old Fords! Leo
