I know what it is. I bought it in the mid 1970s from Radio Shack.

That is used to hold a soldering iron so not to burn the table top etc. Used one of those a lot back when I did a lot of soldiering. Still have my 25 watt soldering iron.
 
That is a solar cigarette lighter, or given the era, perhaps another smokable lighter. Unfold the holer to the upright position, stick cig end on into the slot, aim at the sun and focus on the cig end and lit in a few seconds.
 
Doing a lot of soldering can be as bad or worse then smoking. I have a friend who was in the Navy on the JFK that is sick due to doing a lot of soldering. Heavy metal poisoned
 
WE cooked a hotdog with a mirror in a physics class. I don't remember for sure but I think it was from a military vehicle. Possibly a tank?
