Gas furnace brands.. Lennox carrier or Ruud

Going to install a new gas furnace. Checking the difference in reliability and performance of premium brands Lennox and carrier versus lower cost
brands like Ruud. All are 96%, two stage, variable speed. Big difference in price. Will the reliability and longevity be much different. Do any of you have
practical experience with recent products from these brands ?

Retired now and haven't kept up with the new ones. What I can tell you is you pay for the name. You also pay for the bells and whistles and those are what costs you down the road. I don't care for variable speed. Too expensive and too many problems. Most often the mid range units are the most reliable. JMO

Compare the warranties. Biggest factor is a good reliable local contractor. And remember after the first year or two labor costs are all on you no matter how long the parts warranty is.

I have a 23 year Ruud AC.
I would recommend Ruud, but past performance is no indication of future performance.
I had a Whirlpool washer that lasted 45 years.
I would never recommend buying a Whirlpool washer.
I bought one and it didn't last 2 years.
Bottom line, they don't make things like they used to.
I would buy from the most reputable dealer in town.

Many, many years ago I serviced furnaces part time, and parts were interchangeable from make to make, except one brand. So I would check to see if that is still true today, and not buy one that parts are not interchangeable.

Typically the warranty on the heat exchanger is a big clue. That is what determines the quality, a good heavy gauge heat exchanger. The rest is bells and whistles and advertising. The higher end units do tend to run quieter.

The 2 most important things, size it properly for your needs, bigger is not better, and install it correctly.
