Front tine tiller

Hi Guys and Girls
I have been trying to locate a manual for a front tine tiller sold in Canada under the brand name Macleods. The machine is 1977/78 vintage. It was sold by Macleods Hardware Stores, which is long since gone. This tiller seems to of had a real reputation of being a real bulldozer, strong and robust. The machine decal says; MACLEODS - HI-CAPACITY - 5HP - CHAIN DRIVE. The model or serial number is 36-7852001. Wondering about any info really. Who the manufacturer was that built the machine. Or anyone that may have a manual the they could photograph and send me pictures (for a price of course).
Regards

If it looks like this, I may have a manual. I got this chain drive tiller from Sears in the same time frame. Still use it. You can get parts breakdown from Sears website; use model# 247296750.

That is about the same vintage as our Toro which is chain drive if I remember correctly. Reverse is accomplished by tightening a second drive belt which is run by a pulley on the
camshaft.

Good morning, Paul and others: Your reverse belt from camshaft is similar to the Troy-Built Pony in my barn. Briggs engine.

If you can post several clear pictures of your tiller, someone may be able to identify the manufacturer.

It is highly unlikely that Macleods Hardware manufactured equipment.

Many manufacturers would sell the same product to different retailers with private branding such as different paint colors, decals, etc.

I have an old MTD garden King four horse tiller, vertical crank shaft that has the exact handle bar assembly with the controls, clutch and throttle reversed. It's a gear drive.

The macleods hi capacity is basically the same as or a relabel of the Bolens tiller that were made by FMC which sold out to Gardenway which has now been acquired by MTD. Giggle around for FMC Bolens to find the matching Bolens and MTD might have it. Also some of the parts houses like Jacks may have the parts breakdown at least for the Bolens.
