Wanting to put some 4 pistons into a 310 motor, with stock stroke, and rods if possible, anyone willing to give a guy some advice on what piston to use?

Is this motor Na. If is 4 is just ,1/8 larger than you have. You probably won't gain over 8 hp. Or so. Unless you raise the compression up to the 20's to 1. You can gain that much by putting a piston on tdc and taking the washer off a injector and seeing if it hits. They will keep making power till inj hitd piston. This will make your 8 hp. Practically free. What you really need is the little mountain that's your combustion chamber raised up as high as the outside diameter. I have 3 inj. Washers on my AC.

Sorry I shouldve put in there it is a gas motor, the only reason looking to go a little bigger is the 3 7/8 pistons are junk in it, and finding 3 7/8 flat tops to replace is a rather difficult process apparently

4" pistons would have to be custom made. 3-15/16" used to be available, haven t seen them listed recently. Wall thickness upper section for a 310 sleeve is close to .250", so boring to 4.005 would work - however - the lower section behind the o-ring is only .130" which means boring for a 4" piston leaves only a 1/16" wall. Not recommended.

I ran 4 inch pistons in a stock 283/310 sleeve with roughly 13:1 compression without any issues. Engine actually started out as 7 main 283 like a 1750 would have. The pistons were 352 Ford pistons with a little shaved off the top. I used the 352 because they had a full floating wrist pin. I offset ground the crank and used D19 Allis Chalmers rods. It was 340 cubes and was very competitive in the 4000-5500 mph classes.

The later Farmall 400, has 4 inch pistons, and they got the smaller wrist pin if u need a 1 inch pin!But i assume they would be to low of compression for pulling, maybe a 327 chevy ???
