hello

Im thinking i can not find use tractor tires near where i live .
Im thinking about buying a new set and then cut them .
what is the best brand for pulling .
16.9-38 top cut tires what i need .

Where are you at? We haul tires all over going to tractor pulls. 7 sets on the trailer going to OH last Oct. We have lots of TC, full cut, uncut of various sizes for sale.

Any brand will work as long as they say Firestone on the sidewall--older and harder the better---

Big Tee is right about a lot of things, but just maybe Firestones don't win every time. The guys I pull with run all brands except Good year Squiggles. But a few years ago I pulled my 435 JD with worn out. Just 1/4 tread.Good year Squiggles. At Princeton NATPA and came in 1st. In 3500 top cut. 2nd 4000 top cut. 3rd 4500 top cut. So a blind Sow gets a acorn every once in a while. Lol Vic.

A couple of years ago down to Sigourney Good Year squiggled won the big 5500 class..Found that $1000 acorn!!!---

And it was a G JD out of the Raml stable at that.

Keep checking the Outlaw Antique Pulling Forum on Facebook..Probably more 16.9x38's show up on there for sale than any place else..In my area they are hard to come by..

Old and hard work better than new. Any sort of long bar long bar tread can pull well depending on the track. Goodyear long bar short bar only pull on gravel.

As others have mentioned check the antique pulling groups on FB. Tires for sale all the time there.

We would probably have a set of those we could bring to Princeton IN in Feb. Contact Brian at 605-359-20 four three if you want some pricing.

Hmmm, GY made several versions of the Zig-Zag bar tires, the better than OEM grade with 45 degree lugs were SUPER TORQUE tires, our 450 Farmall came with nearly new 15.5x38's when we bought it. Farmed 200 acres a year for 4-5 years with hardly any wear. Neighbor's new side console 4020 came on GY 15.5x38 OEM grade zig-zag lug tires, Good Year called them POWER-TORQUE's. Those tires ended up on our 4010, and they didn't bite or last as good as the Super-Torque's on the 450.
Good Year made a Cheaper grade still for a replacement grade tire, it was a Something Torque, the lugs curved more than changing direction at an angle, and were thinner and shorter. I could go up to my office and dig around for my Good Year large rear ag tire catalog but I don't feel like it.
Depending what your pulling organization's rules are, a more than slightly worn BFG Power-Saver Radial would probably grip about as good as anything except maybe a Deep Tread Firestone of the same size and percentage of wear. ONLY Firestone has The MACHINE, mobile farm tractor drive tire dynamometer and test lab.
It does make a difference.
