Looking to build a pulling tractor but dont know which one
would be best to build any ideas and where can I find info
on where to build one.

Oliver 70 has a continental engine that you can not find many parts, need a good machine shop that can make other manufacturers parts work. Mine got pistons from a dodge car valves from a diesel engine and bearings from an obsolete engine supplier. It's also geared pretty high. Had 13.6 38 tires on it and was not very impressive. Put 14.9 28 tires on it completely changed it can pull competivly now. Wd 45 have much better parts available and alot of pullers have been made out of them.

I had a wd45 I donated to the club for the silent auction. I got to pull it to show it was in good working order. Man did that thing pull. It did very good. All stock in the antique class. Then I said I should have kept it. Lol. They are a powerhouse.

A lot easier to find parts for a WD 45. I have a Wc and D17 pullers. For a stock puller I would start with a WD 45 diesel.just need the rear end. Its slower geared. For the 38 inch rear tires. But will need a gas one for everything else. A wd 45 engine will work if you raise the compression up to 12 to 1. Best to go to pulls and watch the winners. There is plenty of indoor pulls this winter. Where are you located. I want to go to Oak grove ky. The last of February. I am located in SE Illinois. You can call me if you want. 618 599 8041

I will have to look into them I have been leaning more towards the 45 myself for that very reason that parts are more available for it.

The pull I worked at you would not even make it to the line up with 38 Inch rear wheels, have to have stock 28 inch wheels and no more than a 14.9 tire. Only one size over what they came from factory with. To do what you are saying would have to be a pull that allows highly modified tractors.

All of the big pulls everybody can have 38 rims. Your pull rules favor Oliver's internationals, John Deere etc.

The tractors are what is called strictly OUT OF FIELD Anf no place would anybody be puttimg wheels of 38 inch size on an AC WD or WD-45 to go out in field to start plowing with them And this is what the pull is desigbed for, just the average person that wants to see what his tractor will do when they take it to a Show. Bullys started trying to make it a modified pull and they got kicked out as no nody wants to see them.

Oh My Le Roy, - you seem pretty angry, mad, have you never left the county. 90 % of the pulls in America allow 38s, not many Pure farm Any where, and if there is, just one or two tractors for Grandpa's sake, which is great, however not very popular.

WDs were available with 38 inch rubber. I have pulled with my 960 Ford with 38s for over twenty years. I used to carry a photocopy of the wheels and tires page out of the parts book incase someone asked.

The original poster should probably be the one to decide what class he wants to pull in, and get better advise if he shared that here.

How about a 77?
