What is a good tire pressure to run in a 14.9-28 Firestone 151 tires on 13 rims. Pulling 3500-4500 lb classes

Many factors enter into this part of pulling, tire age, ply rating, speed of tractor, weight of tractor, track type, engine Power, hitch length, ect. Position of weight brackets also. I tend to use more air than most, and have great success with all my tractors, classes, types and places I have pulled for 40 plus yrs all over the country. Not a one size type fits all issue, but each tire has good potential if you start with something generally accepted as adequate. I have ran three times the air amount as most competitors in my National classes, and did well. I have witnessed almost completely bald tires do well, newer full tread tires , not so much. A friend of mine asked me about pulling when He wanted to start out pulling, My advice was to watch the winners and do what they did. Several hours later He came back and shared with me what He had observed, His take was the tractors that had less SQUAT in the tire sidewall while pulling hard at the end - Did better. My observations as well. Now that being said, doesn't mean that less air, or Low air,In comparison to 15-18 lbs, low is 5-7 in my opinion, can't perform well. The first old adage I was exposed to when starting out was SOFT TRACK, SOFT TIRE, - HARD TRACK, HARD TIRE. BEING SIMPLE PHYSICS, ALL THINGS ARE RELEATIVE, SO EACH SITUATION, EACH TRACK, TIRE AND PERSON'S PREFERANCE determines the amount of air you choose. I hardly ever change the amount of pressure that I have found works well Most of the time, Nothing works 100 percent of the time. Good luck, add a center frame weight bracket, helps eliminate errors in placement. Slower, low powered units can generally get by with Less pressure, to obtain a balance to increase chance of a larger pull distance.

I ran 11 lbs in 13.6x28s in the 2750 and 3250 for years and did pretty well. My experience being the bigger the tire, the less air required, 11 lbs might be a good starting point for what you describe. You're talking a tad larger tire but a little heavier class. Enjoy! gm
