Can anyone tell me what the valve lash is supposed to be on my Long 445DT. I just replaced the head gasket (due to compression in the cooling system). The head gasket corrected the compression in the cooling system. However I didn't have the correct valve lash spec. so I set them all at .020 Due to that being the setting on the loosest one at time of disassemby. Better too loose than too tight, right? The engine seems to run o.k., at that, but it will not start without ether, and I have a lot of white smoke. I would like to get the valve lash correct to rule that out, as the cause, before proceeding to other diagnostic steps.
