Mystery White 2-105 (Oliver 1850?)

Hello all,

Bought what might be an oddball 1975 White 2-105. Having a hard time tracking down info.

The serial number on the plate on the frame is 2699-10-406, engine number is 35403633670.

It has some factory-green parts painted black that is wearing off under the seat and the front axle is green too. Old timer around here said it looked like an Oliver 1850 to him.

Doesn't look like the serial numbers online map onto that serial number (I see them listed as starting at six digits).

Any idea on what I've got or how to find out?

Thanks in advance if so.

Have any pictures of it? I m pretty sure front axles will interchange 50/55 series to the 2-85/2-105 whites, so it could have broken and swapped from an oliver, plus much of the hydraulic components that would be under the seat are the same as a 55 series Oliver that would be green too.

FieldBossFan you might try getting a build card from the Floyd county Museum. I am not sure what is available for the White tractors but if there was something different about the build it would show up there. Good Luck.

That serial comes back to a 1976 just through an online search. There's a good chance they used a stockpile of old Oliver 1850 parts and just repainted them. You can order a build card through the Floyd County Museum.

The Floyd County Museum has Build Cards for Charles City built tractors prior to WFE, do not have them for the
White tractors.

If it's a 76 model, then it was probably already painted to be an 1855 before they changed horses in mid stream. I went to an
auction a few years ago where there were a lot of Olivers. He had a White 2-150 too. That one had some green paint poking through
the black. I figure it was originally supposed to be a G1355 or 2255 and left it at that. Here's a link to a post after I came home
from that sale.

That online search is something I wanted to find. I promise I tried before I came here, too.

Any chance you'd throw me a link to what you used?

Thanks either way.

That's probably exactly what happened. I had thought as much, too, but the stuff I found online looked like they stopped making 1855s in 1969 so I put it aside.

The MM connection isn't one I'd made, either. Thanks!

I thought I replied to you last night but I don't see it. Sorry. I just got the serial number info off tractordata.com. It's more reliable for late models like yours than say the fleetline series Oliver's, etc. Hope you get everything figured out.

The 2-105 I bought new in February of 1975 had green paint showing thru the black on the rear end and axle housings. When I sold it at my retirement in DEC 2018
