Over the weekend, with the help of Tim and Jim Brain, we rescued this Vista.

Lucky Keith You always get the good ones . Looks good and straight. You can always fix cyl#4.

Excited to have it. Bought lots of extra parts from them as well. Should have most of the major parts to get it running. Only thing missing is the hydraulic pump.

#4 exhaust valve was open. Did not find any visible cracks in the head when I cleaned it. Still waiting to hear from the machine shop if the head has any issues.

The June pic of cylinders 3 and 4. The head bolt with a fitting? in the lower left, did MM add a hollow head bolt to help hold things together while still using that "tube" to send oil up to the rockers?
I'm still stuck in 20-35, 21-32 FT & FT-A four cylinder era. You know those tractors as well.
This is interesting to me and makes sense why there are G-1000 pistons and rings in my fresh 21-32.

Yes, that is a combination head bolt and rocker oiling tube. MM added two additional head bolts when they started using the 10A423X series of heads.

The tractor show season in AZ slowed progress the last few months but I was able to spend a little time and get the sheet metal back on for a test fit.

Looks better each time. Now you need the pump.

That will be the next big step.

Proper front tires were put on it after that photo was taken as well.

Would you happen to have an extra head for a G1000 Vista to sell? Casting # 10A29559

(quoted from post at 01:34:43 04/30/22) I can almost hear that big Minneapolis six.
SW, are those big bruisers as sweet to operate as they are to look at?
Neat thread!

Hmmmmm. Still cannot upload a video.

Sorry, I do not have any diesel heads that late.

Got new valves installed on the propane tank and a OEM muffler. Working on the steering cylinder now. Then, finally, the hydraulics.

Was able to get the steering cylinder repaired and the hydraulics working over the weekend. The lift arms move but did not put and load on them yet.

This is a picture of the pump "pre-install" making certain everything connected properly

Others have recued tractors in worse condition. I've rescued a couple items that had been on fire.

The Vista has been my favorite tractor since I was a kid. I am glad I got to save this one from going to scrap.

Still lots of little details to work on but all of the major issues seem to be behind me.

Knock on wood.

If all goes to plan, the Vista will be attending its first show in Feb at Glendale , AZ. The local club is featuring Muscle Tractors. I think it qualifies.

If I may.
I've had you confused with another fellow while enjoying your thread.
Where did MM stash the G-1000 oil filter/s and for my filter studying, would you click a pic of your oil filter setup?
I'd like to see it.
Thanks. Du :)

No problem.

The oil filter on the G1000 and many other MM models is located behind a cover on the oil pan. It can be seen in the photo below.

SW: I've been standing here for several days now, when do I expect the truck????? It is supposed to get colder and it is going to be hard on me. I would do a lot to have a Vista, but this is ridiculous.

You must have gone inside for a cup of coffee. I see it is back at my shop. Guess I will make the adjustments myself. I wanted a Vista of my own for 55 years. I ll be keeping this one.

I ll be happy to send classified listing of Vistas near you.

(quoted from post at 10:07:27 01/13/23) That would be great. But I am fussy. It has to be LP with a late good cab.
MMDEL

You must have deep pockets too.

I'm glad the one I found in New Mexico is an LP. I've only seen two others in AZ and they were both diesels.

Yeah I know, story of my life. I'll keep hoping and looking.
Have a good year. I'll send that part shortly.

You did not stash a zero hour Vista away back in the day?

(quoted from post at 15:33:16 01/17/23) I'm not sure she was that smart either.
MMDEL

I'm starting to sense a trend here.

However, she did say that one day you would write the complete guide of shop tricks to keep MM tractors running strong. You better get started or she may revoke some of those gold stars she gave you.

This has been a long time coming but these will be the the final photos for this thread. The Vista made it to the AEDGETA Glendale Show over the weekend all went well but there are still a few items that will require attention.
