I'm in desperate need of any help. My dad purchased a 3020 to go along with our 4020 at an auction not long ago. There are some parts the the mechanic is trying to find but Deere is asking for the VIN. The vin tag is gone, looks like at some point a pto shaft probably broke and removed it. Is there anywhere else we can find a vin. I would ask the farmer, but he passed. Thanks in advance for any help.

We can help you narrow it down.

1st question- hydraulic controls on the dash or beside the seat?

For your pto shaft pull it out if you can and count input splines. For your serial number if the tag on the right rear of the differential is gone see if theres an engine serial tag or even a casting number. With any luck it will have an original block and might get you close on the year. Then go to tractor data pick your range between that year and you should be close enough for most things. Then verify it makes sense by answering coonies question theres some later differences that are pretty visible. Also powershift is different so picture of that front dash tells us a lot

Early engine serial numbers were stamped on behind the generator... that method would work if the original engine is still in it
